Ahsan Iqbal Praises GB Finance Minister Abrar Ismail

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal has appreciated the contribution of Gilgit-Baltistan’s Finance Minister Abrar Ismail for his keynote address at the Pakistan Governance Forum 2026.

In an official letter issued on March 5, 2026, the Planning Commission acknowledged Abrar Ismail’s role as a keynote speaker at the forum held on February 25–26 at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The letter commended his “distinguished contribution” and described his address as an important intellectual input that enhanced the quality of discourse at the event.

According to the letter, the Pakistan Governance Forum 2026 brought together top leadership from across the country, including the Prime Minister, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly, federal and provincial ministers, along with over 100 prominent speakers from key sectors such as exports, energy, environment, E-Pakistan and governance reforms.

The minister noted that Abrar Ismail’s address provided a clear framework for understanding governance challenges and offered strategic pathways for meaningful and lasting reforms.

The Planning Ministry further stated that insights shared during the forum would help shape policy planning and contribute to ongoing national-level discussions.

The federal government has also expressed hope for Abrar Ismail’s continued engagement in future editions of the forum and other national initiatives.
